best time to buy carpet at lowes

Here's the thing with buying carpet from a box store. They are a profit based store not a customer service store my dad owns a furniture and flooring shop. We have been in business over 40 years and have developed a large base of loyal customers. I couldn't tell you how many times people have come in and said they were looking for carpet at lowes but were not getting questions answered or they were getting false information. Here are some things to consider when buying carpet. A number of carpet products from these box store are exclusive to them even the name brands like mohawk. The problem is there quality and service. We can usually cross reference there style number and find the exact same product. The difference is quality yes it will be a bit more expensive but we can work with the price more then they can. Most people in this economy are looking for the best price not the best quality. Then when they get the product they are disappointed. Why because of the hidden costs associated with the purchase. The cost for us to do an in home estimate and measurment $0.00. And most family owned shops are that way. We do have a minimum for installation our installation includes removal of old carpet pad and includes all supplies needed to do the job correct and includes labor. One price all included. The installers we use are not contractors they work specifically for us. They install flooring that's all they have been doing it from years they didn't have to go to some store based certificate program. They are up to date on all the latest techniques. Most mom and pop shops operate the same way. Also when a consumer comes in and picks out a style and color we order it that day no money down. Some shops may require money down but not usually. You are not required to purchase the carpet fully before it is ordered. Pay when the job is complete and its done to your satisfaction. Look the economy is in trouble and its not the chain stores that are suffering its the mom and pop shops that are barely getting buy and barely make enough to keep the lights on. Support your local business im willing to bet your overall experience will be better then that at lowes or home depot. Keep america the place we all love by supporting local businesses. If you have questions or concerns about your carpet buying experience feel free to ask I will answer all questions from the suppliers perspective I can tell you if you're getting a good deal or not all I ask in return is support your local business. Thanks and happy shopping.

Lowes like HD sometimes have great buys on carpet. The criticism is that box stores usually add 10% more onto the bid so sometimes the amount of carpet they charge you for is more than you need. If you can get some independent installer to estimeate the yardage first that would help. I know HD marks up their labor and charges for things that most local stores dont. Most of the problems at least with HD is that there is seldom good communication between the store and installation. HD used to not even schedule the install until the carpet arrived in the wharehouse. I used to work for Mohawk.

At least for me, HDepot had a special of free measurement. Other carpet places were going to charge me $50 and most of the places in the area use the same company. HDepot used the material estimate that company provided. I did have to wait a good time after the measurement for the HD "facilitator" to process my paperwork for the order and also for the carpet to arrive before setting the install date--probably a good thing because it ended up being backordered for 2 weeks! Other than those hiccups, I enjoyed the hassle free purchase and installation. The installation crew (3 people for 900 sq.ft.) seemed very professional and once done, went through the install with me and seemed very interested in my satisfaction.

I bought Stainmaster Carpet from Lowes 4 years ago. They had a local company instal it. After about 18 months the carpet in our Bedroom started buckling and there is about 5 ripples in the carpet. Lowes said if we wanted it fixed then we would have to pay to have it "Restretched". After having our carpet installed we purchased an expensive carpet machine so that we could clean the carpets every 6 months. We started noticing what I call "trails" in the high traffic areas and the edge that meets up with our tile is literally shredding. When we purchased this particular carpet we specified we needed durable high traffic carpet and based off of the Representatives recommendations purchased our carpet. We spent $3,200.00 for less than 700 square feet. So as you can tell we spared no expense to ensure we were getting the best possible. The carpet has not held up at all. All our previous homes had Berber and we never had any issues at all. We contacted the store and they said it wasn't their problem that we would have to provide receipts of professional carpet cleaning services to the manufacturer if we wished to have something done. I asked the stores manager if warranty was dependent on professional carpet cleaning services then why had we not been informed of these apparently very important terms? She stated that whoever the sales rep was that sold us the carpet should of verbally said something. REALLY?? I'm sorry but something so important should not be handled in this manner. Warranty Terms and Conditions should be Written down and provided to your customers, not a verbal supposed to tell you kind of thing. I am very Dissatisfied with Lowe's handling of this situation and Would NOT recommend them !!!

I bought nylon carpet from Home depot and it lasted 11 years until we sold the home. The installer was very professional and told us what he was going to do in a particular problem area and we were please with the price, quality and installation of HD. However, when we bought another home we went to a big shot carpet dealer in OKC that was rated high and they sold us some eco carpet made from corn. Beats me as to how or what the carpet is but one thing we do know is that we will never go back to that particular carpet dealer again, we'll either go to Lowes or Home Depot-they return to stretch the carpet if necessary and the local carpet dealer said they wouldn't return to restretch and when I called the second time the salesman said they would but I never followed up on it because we weren't' happy with their carpet.

Carpet retailers and installers see an uptick at those times because people prepare for hosting during the holidays or put their recent tax refund toward the project. Buying carpet outside those times could result in a deal and likely more flexibility for carpet installers. Advertisement THIS IS AN ADVERTISEMENT AND NOT EDITORIAL CONTENT. The best way to find a carpet installer nearby is to ask a carpet retailer for a referral. Most retailers have established relationships with carpet installers and can help you find the best carpet installer. Sometimes those carpet retailers can find you savings with carpet installers they have worked with in the past.

There is no clearly defined best time of the year to purchase your new flooring, but there are a few key factors that can make your timing the best possible. For instance, wait until most floorings go on sale, if possible. Traditionally, two parts of the year will produce the lowest flooring costs. Just after the holidays (late December-January), flooring costs will drop.

Your answers will help narrow your carpet options and allow you to select the color, carpet construction, and cushion that best meets your needs. If you still have questions, ask your carpet dealer for guidance.

Berber carpet, thinner loop, or cut pile carpet is made with large, wide loops, and functions best when supported by a stable, low-flexing, cushion. A thicker, softer cushion is not recommended. Cushion thickness should not exceed 3/8 inch for these products. Check with your carpet manufacturer to determine whether your carpet selection requires a specific cushion.

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is an area of growing importance because of the amount of time we spend indoors as well as concerns about asthma, allergies, and VOCs. Green Label Plus is a voluntary, industry testing program for carpet, adhesive, and cushion products that establish the highest standard for indoor air quality (IAQ) ever set by the carpet industry.
